Job description

Position Description:

Mathematica applies expertise at the intersection of data, methods, policy, and practice to improve well-being around the world. We collaborate closely with public-and private-sector partners to translate big questions into deep insights that improve programs, refine strategies, and enhance understanding using data science and analytics. Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas, from health, education, early childhood, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.

The Teen Options to Prevent Pregnancy (T.O.P.P.) program aims to support young mothers and promote healthy birth spacing. Young mothers enrolled in the program are offered services from nurse educators and access to social workers supports and referrals. Mathematica is running a study of the T.O.P.P. program in New York City (NYC). We are currently administering an 18-month follow-up survey to study participants to better understand how the T.O.P.P. program helps young mothers.

We are looking for field locating staff to assist with the 18-month follow up survey. Field locators will locate study participants in the NYC area and support them in taking the follow-up survey. As a field locator, typical tasks may include visiting the homes of study participants and their contacts, speaking with community members in the participants’ neighborhoods, and explaining and administering the online follow up survey to participants, if located.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous field interviewing experience is preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Must be able to travel up to 3 days a week
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and/or have access to reliable transportation
  • Willingness to undergo a low-level background check

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation as a condition of working on the project.

Although Mathematica does not require vaccination from COVID-19 as a condition of employment, various projects or agencies may require documentation of vaccination (or an approved exception/accommodation).

This position offers an anticipated hourly rate of $24/hr.

Available locations: Bronx, NY; Brooklyn, NY

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
