Job description

Kennel

• Properly clean ward and kennel area using disinfectant and run pressure hose.
• Use commercial washer and dryers to clean ward, surgical, and kennel laundry.
• Keep patients clean and dry by checking and cleaning wards and kennels as needed.
• Bathe patients when orders indicate.
• Feed and water patients according to clients’ orders.
• Wash ward and kennel dishes and store properly.
• Wash and disinfect litter pans, grates, and equipment.
• Perform other cleaning duties from cleaning list.
• Keep personal belongings (for ex. toys, blankets, medicine, leashes, etc.) with patients or in box.
• Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of storage areas.
• Properly restrain patients for treatment by doctor or technician.
• Assist with treatments.
• Clean treatment area.

Grounds

• Remove fecal matter daily.
• Empty trash in designated area.
• Maintain landscaped areas.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks.

Daycare

• Monitor pets on a continual basis throughout their stay.
• Be alert for signs of possible aggression towards other dogs and understand the techniques for relieving the tension.
• Keep dogs in a relatively calm and relaxed state to prevent excess barking and roughhousing which could lead to aggression or injury
• Maintain a clean environment, removing any messes immediately to prevent soiling of other pets.
• Know dogs’ names and fill out report cards to go home with pet.

Reception

• Ensure proper check-in of residents to daycare or kennel, ensuring all documentation is filled out and all client requests are taken care of.
• Ensure proper check out of residents, following established guidelines so that all maters concerning the residents’ stay here are satisfactorily concluded.
• Answer multi-line phone.
• Show empathy for client concerns, resolving any problems in an expedite manner.
• Demonstrate the proper knowledge necessary to answer client questions properly.
• Utilize organization and efficiency to direct the flow of clients and pets, and make certain all aspects of a residents stay here are taken care of.

Other responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance (for ex. neat and clean uniform or other appropriate attire).
• Maintain a professional, courteous attitude.
• Attend and participate in all required staff meetings.
