Position Summary: The Cook prepares and cooks meals according to the planned menu. Responsible for monitoring and replenishing the serving line. Maintains a clean and sanitary environment in the kitchen, dining area, storage facilities, and other food service areas. Responsible for restocking and rotating food supplies. Sets up and provides food for socials and breaks.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Cook food and prepare beverages according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served
  • Serve food and beverages to facility residents, employees, and guests in an appealing manner
  • Bake breads, rolls, and other pastries
  • Clean and inspect kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas in order to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
  • Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures
  • Take inventory of supplies and reorder as necessary
  • Maintain compliance with all food service regulations and adhere to safe food handling practices
  • Other duties as required

Position Qualifications:

Required

· High school diploma or related experience

· At least two years related food service experience

· Ability to operate food preparation and dishwashing machinery

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

· Prior experience in a healthcare or religious organization

· Understanding and appreciation of the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy

· Familiarity with the Catholic Church structures and teaching
