The A Side: A Day in The Life
EMI and UMUK value e-Commerce as a key foundational channel to connect artists and fans. It is a rapidly growing part of our label and wider organisation. This is a key role within our EMI e-Commerce team to deliver a best-in-class service for our artists, labels and fans and ultimately delivering a first-class customer experience to customers.
We are seeking an experienced eCommerce manager to work with UMUK’s biggest frontline label on all eCommerce activities and manage growing our direct-to-consumer retail experience. The candidate will work at the label to deliver projects, manage and oversee store builds and launches and above all deliver a focused, profitable, and innovative e-Commerce strategy for the artists and label store all in line with eCommerce best practice. Expect to be heavily involved from the beginning, creating close relationships with the label, central teams at UMG and the artist managers.
EMI is home to the likes of Elton John, Metallica, Lewis Capaldi, Loyle Carner, Bastille, Queen, Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Caity Baser, A1 x J1, Bree Runway, Sub Focus, Chase & Status and many more.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
The community manager is responsible for the audit, maintenance, and development of our fan communities across a range of platforms. They should have deep knowledge of Discord and Reddit, as well as emerging apps like Telegram and Geneva.
Knowledge of how communities are structured and how to nurture them is essential.
They must work closely with the CRM manager on data acquisition and community growth as well as commercial and d2c teams on driving D2C revenue with sales targets.
We envisage a phased approach as follows:
  • Audit – where our fan communities are at, key fanbases and targets and who are they?
  • Onboarding – working with mgmt. to set up and launch Discord Servers and Reddit pages
  • Maintenance - Ongoing programming of these platforms
  • Monetisation - Tied into D2C/CRM objectives and eventually monetised
Measurement is key and this person must drive new metrics on how to judge the success of a community, what it is worth and how it is growing.
This person must be able to drive a community strategy at a high level amongst important Artists and Managers and communicate back to the label regularly about success and future plans.
Person Specification
  • A technically astute individual who has experience of working in digital marketing in entertainment (ideally within Music, Fashion or Gaming industries)
  • Passionate about music, data and the digital landscape
  • Excellent knowledge of the Discord platform
  • Knowledge of eCRM best practice and how to grow and nurture email databases
  • Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels within the business
  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
  • Tactful and diplomatic, especially when dealing with Artists and Management
  • Software experience with Photoshop, HTML editors such as Dreamweaver, video editing software such as Premiere, excel/Google sheets
  • Wordpress experience a bonus
  • Interest in pursuing a career in digital marketing a must
