Job description
The Washington County Youth Bureau/Alternative Sentencing Agency is currently accepting applications for County Youth Director. This is a managerial and administrative position involving considerable contact with and coordination between municipalities and private and public agencies that provide youth oriented and correctional options programs. The position involves considerable independent judgment while working in conformance with Local, State and Federal Laws, Rules and Regulations (established by the Youth Board, Washington County Board of Supervisors, County Administrator, Washington County Criminal Justice Advisory Board, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, New York State Office of Court Administration, and other State and local regulating offices including Warren County Board of Supervisors). The incumbent is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Child Family Services Plan for Youth Services and maintaining the State OPCA Service Plan, as well as others. Administers the business and financial activities of the Youth Bureau/Alternative Sentencing Agency. Is responsible for hiring, training and supervision of departmental personnel, program development, contract management, program evaluation, grant writing, and public relations. Facilitates collaboration among public and private agencies, the courts and the educational community surrounding youth and correctional options issues. Does related work as required. The incumbent is appointed by and is directly responsible to the Washington and Warren County Board of Supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a master’s degree in public or business administration, social science, behavioral science, juvenile justice or closely related field, and one (1) year of paid experience in an administrative position serving the needs of youth; OR
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, social science, behavioral science, juvenile justice or closely related field, and two (2) years of paid experience in a position in youth development, character building, delinquency prevention or a similar field, one (1) year of which includes experience in an administrative position serving the needs of youth; OR
Possession of an associate degree in public or business administration, social science, behavioral science, juvenile justice or closely related field and four (4) years of experience in a position in youth development, character building, delinquency prevention or a similar field, one (1) year of which includes experience in an administrative position serving the needs of youth.
ANNUAL SALARY: $83,730 plus excellent benefits
