Job Summary/Basic Function

The student manager reports directly to the general manager and carries out duties as assigned to assist the general manager in all operations. The student manager is responsible for supervising the program director, production director, and promotions/public service director.

Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The student station manager is responsible for all operations of the station. Duties include:  Ensure that all programs air as scheduled.  Oversee recruiting and training of student workers.  Make sure shifts are covered either by live personnel or automation.  Ensure operators comply with all regulatory requirements.  Advise and keep the general manager informed on all station operations.  Hold meetings as necessary and keep the staff informed of relevant news and information.  Represent the station on campus and elsewhere.  Communicate with the public.  Supervise paid and unpaid staff members to ensure they are doing assigned jobs.  Coordinate external relations activities.  Work with the web manager to develop a robust web presence for the station.  Work with the general manager to develop, communicate, and maintain operating standards for the station.  Coordinate and collaborate with the Statesman and Sycamore Video to produce multimedia content for Student Media and related medium-specific content for WISU.  Everything else necessary for operations consistent with the dual missions of providing high quality noncommercial broadcasting service to WISU’s listening area and offering experiential learning opportunities for students at Indiana State University. Performs other duties as assigned.
