Writer/Producer (Chicago-based)

A little bit about the show: MeTV's Toon In With Me is an original weekday hosted morning show for audiences of all ages. The show will brighten everyone's day by combining witty original characters, quick comedy sketches, surprises and more.

General Job Description:

Weigel Broadcasting Co is looking for a Chicago-based Writer/Producer to add to our collaborative team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skill set for producing comedy, and a curiosity about for an original daily show centered around classic cartoons. They will be based in Chicago and will work with a creative team of writers, producer, graphic artists and editors who produce collaborative content for broadcast.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Create evocative, comedy-based scripts that effectively communicate their relevance to the viewer.

Pitching, researching, planning guest segments and/or packages.

Craft multiple comedy sketches each week, combing new segments, original footage, and one of the deepest archives in the business.

Comfort and ability to work on the fly, work creatively and seamlessly with a team of producers and editors to create a unique television experience.

Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for job, if not currently employed by Weigel Broadcasting Co.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

A creative thinker with a proven track record.

Minimum of 4 years writing and production experience in television.

Understanding of broadcast comedy, film and television and how they relate to broader audience.

Highly developed written and verbal communications skills.

Experience with Avid's iNews strongly preferred.
