Job Summary
The Agency for Community Empowerment of NEPA (ACE of NEPA) is a Community Action Agency in Lackawanna County with programs spanning across five counties. ACE is seeking a Workforce Initiative Officer, to help support the efforts of its Workforce Initiative Program. This position will provide case management, eLearning, and job-readiness training services to program participants to help them earn gainful employment and overcome the barriers that are preventing them from becoming self-sufficient. The ideal candidate is someone highly motivated, organized, passionate about helping the impoverished community, a good listener who pays attention to basic human needs and non-judgmental of individual circumstances.

Essential Job Responsibilities

● Complete intake of program participants and determine income eligibility via funding requirements

● Work one on one with program participants to assess their needs as it relates to the program.

● Instructing in job readiness skills needed to gain self-sufficiency including management of the online learning platform.

● Career coaching including but not limited to resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, job search strategizing and salary negotiation tactics.

● Enacting applicable referrals to community partner programs.

● Following up with program participants to ensure barriers are being addressed and eliminated.

● Job placement oversight including establishing new business partnerships and relationship management.

● Data tracking with regards to the individuals served including outcomes with services provided.

● Collaborate with community and business partners to reach potential program participants and deliver services to help program participants become gainfully employed.

● Maintain contact with program participants to ensure the barriers are eliminated.

● Additional tasks as assigned by the Workforce Initiative Coordinator and the rest of the leadership team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

○ Self-motivated and detail-oriented

○ Cross-functional team collaborator

○ Valid driver's license and insurance

○ Good listener and communicator

○ Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suites

○ Excellent organizational skills

○ Knowledge of community programs

Required Education/Experience

● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.

● Experience in working with diverse populations.

Working Environment

This position is part of ACE’s Workforce Initiative, working closely with ACE’s other programs to ensure positive outcomes for our program participants. In addition to the 35-hour work week and 17 paid holidays including your birthday, this position is eligible to start with two weeks paid vacation, two personal days, accrued monthly sick leave, matching pension and excellent health care benefits which includes dental and vision.

Pay Range: $15-$21 per hour
