Clemson University's Woodland Cemetery is looking for a Woodland Cemetery Superintendent to fulfill the following duties:

  • Assists with daily operation and maintenance of the Woodland Cemetery.
  • Administers day-to-day administrative, grounds maintenance and burial-related activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:


35% - Essential - Facilitate On-Site Work:
Coordinate as necessary with funeral homes to schedule burials and installation of grave markers. Exercise judgment on items and equipment that may be allowed on cemetery grounds. Assist with access to the cemetery grounds during construction. Coordinate scheduling and ensure University Archaeologist, external companies and contractors are present as required.

35% - Essential - Record-Keeping:
Keep track of burials/markers through cataloging system. Records include each interment space with specific locations, dates, and contact information for vendors and surviving family members. Record information found on markers. Take photographs of markers and catalog appropriately. Assist with determining and recording space allocations for modern families seeking burial. Maintain records about military service of those interred. Maintain documentation as required by state law and local statutes.

30% - Essential - Coordination of Cemetery Events/Programming:
Coordinate with University Facilities and Athletics department before and during home football games to ensure appropriate signage is placed on the grounds. Monitor the grounds to ensure aesthetics of the site are maintained. Coordinate academic research and class activities taking place on Cemetery grounds. Assist visitors with locating grave sites. Assist with special events on-site as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - High School or Equivalent and experience in a related field
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05 ($ 35,360.00 - $ 59,100.00)

Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations
