Hatchery Worker

Positions available in Detroit lakes, MN

Job Responsibilities
1. Clean up each hatcher involved in a hatch, to tops, sides, backs, and fronts as well as the inside of the compartment
2. Dispose of hatch refuse following all approved procedures
3. Thoroughly wash and sanitize the wash room and all equipment used in that day's production
4. Thoroughly wash and sanitize all hatching trays and racks
5. Keep the maintenance department informed of any repairs necessary to keep the equipment in good working condition
6. Assist in the transfer of eggs from the incubators to the hatchers
7. Assist in pulling hatch
8. Be available to work shifts on a scheduled basis with early morning hours (4 a.m.)
9. Perform other duties as periodically requested
10. Consistent with the overall hatchery team approach to least cost production

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic understanding and meeting of Hatchery/Breeder Sanitation/Isolation Policies and requirements
  • Possess adequate math skills to be able to function effectively
  • Assist in servicing of live baby poults on an ongoing basis
  • Safe working habits
  • Ability to work with live turkey poults

PHYSICAL:

  • Able to work in standing position
  • Able to lift 25 pounds on a consistent basis

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good hand dexterity, with the ability to grasp repeatedly and make accurate counts on more than 100 poults at a time
