The Team:
The Warehouse Trainer position is part of the Mattel San Bernardino Distribution Center team.


The Opportunity:

The essential duties and responsibilities for the Warehouse Trainer position include all responsibilities designated for all warehouse positions, plus the following:

Training

  • The Warehouse Trainer directs and facilitates training for employees both temporary, newly hired full-time, new to a department or in need of recertification, and for employees requiring help to improve their performance.
  • The Trainer may participate in or lead a variety of training exercises.
  • The Trainer communicates with trainees, teaching and explaining Mattel's values, training procedures, product handling techniques, documentation/customer service requirements, and safety guidelines which are all vital in our distribution center.
  • The Trainer follows up with trainees by tracking their learning progress, making recommendations on how to improve their performance, while examining work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Interacts with the Leads, Supervisors, Human Resources, and Operations Manager to evaluate and critique the DC training programs, in an effort to provide the best training and work experience possible.
  • Advises the trainee’s direct Supervisor concerning individual progress to determine succession planning and employee readiness.
  • Makes recommendations on strategies to improve performance, readiness for advancement to additional tasks, and readiness and fitness for hire.
  • The Trainer will occasionally conduct formal classroom training, as well as small group training sessions on the floor.
  • Ensures that all Mattel safety and security policies and procedures are followed.
  • As needed the warehouse trainer will conduct the work of a warehouse technician.

Clamp Truck Operations:

  • Requires employee to drive a clamp truck to pull product, locate product, and load product onto trailers.

Labeling and Auditing Product

  • Requires employee to label incoming and outgoing product by matching names and numbers on labels to specific cartons. Also requires employee to verify product locations and update RTL system.

Loading and Unloading Trailers

  • Requires employee to be able to lift at least 50 pounds of boxed product waist high in order to load and unload tractor-trailers.

Promotional Assembly

  • Requires employee to perform price ticketing utilizing label guns, testing and repacking product using a variety of hand tools (e.g. screwdrivers, box cutters, tape guns, glue guns, etc). Repacking various weights and sizes of product. Must be able to operate the box taping machines.


Warehouse Cleanup and Maintenance

  • Requires employee to perform general warehouse and light maintenance duties associated with a warehouse environment (e.g. spray painting, sweeping, stacking of cartons, etc.). Tasks and job assignments vary depending on specific job requirements.

Check- Verify Shipping & Receiving Product

  • Requires employee to verify product being shipped via common carriers. Employee must have good math skills and pay close attention to detail. Employee must verify that the product ordered by the customer, is the product pulled from the warehouse. A person in this position is the final step in the warehouse quality control process and must ensure that product being shipped is first quality and is the correct quantity. This position requires employee to complete load and control sheets, bills of lading, and to obtain the necessary signatures from the appropriate parties (e.g. truck drivers).

Flexibility and teamwork in all aspects of job responsibilities are essential to performing job requirements. Employees in this classification may be required to perform work that is not listed in this job description as an “essential duty”. This is typically an interim solution to staff deficiencies, or during cross-training activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English. Attaches labels to containers; looks at containers to be sure labels have been correctly applied. Obtains items from stock as specified on shipping orders.

MATHEMATICAL and REASONING ABILITY SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current forklift certification.

The base hourly rate for this position is between $19.25 and $24.00.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
