Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor contributes to meeting Langham goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by ensuring that the Warehouse Associates meet customer goals of quality and timeliness of shipments. The Supervisor is a direct link between the Warehouse Associates and the Warehouse Office, distributing work orders daily, ensuring orders are correctly completed and recorded, and ensuring that shipments get out according to schedule. Also ensure that all customer receipts are completed timely and recorded correctly. The Warehouse Supervisor ensures productivity and quality goals are met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, maximizing efficiency using RF guns and cross training. The Warehouse Supervisor is charged with planning for adequate manpower to meet daily schedules and appropriately matching Associate skills with duties of the job.
The Warehouse Supervisor quickly responds to customer complaints and tracks the cause of errors. The Supervisor delegates investigation of problems, such as missing parts in the warehouse that have been incorrectly placed in the bins. The Warehouse Supervisor will also ensure that all shipments from customers/vendors coming into the warehouse are accurately inspected, checked, recorded, and entered the database as well as put away into the correct location.
The Warehouse Supervisor also ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines, with particular attention to guidelines regarding hazardous materials and those mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.
The Warehouse Supervisor works directly with the Warehouse Manager to identify methods to increase productivity and efficiency.
Evaluation of performance Performance will be evaluated based on meeting the requirements of the job description; meeting performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working according to specifications, policies, and standards established by Langham; working effectively in a team environment; and providing a high level of internal and external customer service.
Performance metrics Performance metrics for this position will be established annually based on:
Department quality (error rates), productivity (orders, lines, and pieces), and absenteeism/turnover.
Key outcomes expected Shipping
Ensure that customer orders are filled accurately and according to schedule:
  • Identify and decide for appropriate manpower needs daily, issue overtime requirements as needed.
  • Prepare daily work schedules and issue written and oral instructions, ensuring that orders (pick tickets) are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Assign daily tasks as appropriate based on individual team member skills (i.e., picking, driving, banding, QC, cycle counts, etc.).
  • Cross train all employees in the department.
  • Maximize efficiency using RF guns in all areas (where appropriate).
  • Ensure work is performed by the team according to all Langham policies and procedures. Assist employees with work process problems.
Receiving
Ensure inventory is received, entered the system, and put away/stored in the correct locations for future retrieval by directing employees to:
  • Physically check incoming loads against packing lists.
  • Identify discrepancies between paperwork and physical product received.
  • Communicate with the customer to take care of inaccuracies in shipments.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by entering material into data base.
  • Locate proper storage bin for product.
  • Put inventory away in correct location.
  • Perform physical counts (or assign) as necessary.

Provide input to the Warehouse Manager regarding process improvement for greater efficiency and productivity.
Monitor Warehouse Associates' productivity and make system adjustments as needed.
Approve time sheets according to required schedule and monitor all time off by Associates.
Influence employees to work together as a team and ensure a team environment in the warehouse.
Respond to and resolve customer complaints, ensuring that the appropriate Langham personnel are aware of escalating problems.
Establish and promote positive communication within Langham internal departments to increase collaboration and reduce inefficiencies. Respond to e-mails and voice mails in a timely manner.
Effectively perform basic supervisory responsibilities of coaching, training, disciplining, and evaluating performance.

Experience, education, degrees, licenses High school diploma or GED required. Prefer some post-secondary education.
2-3 years of warehouse supervisor or management experience
Must be able to pass forklift certification training.
Physical demands Must be able to operate a variety of equipment: stand up forklift, sit down forklift, order picker, and banding equipment.
Physical movements including bending, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds as part of daily work routine. Will be working on concrete in a warehouse environment (subject to heat and cold).
Must be able to operate computer equipment.
Work environment Work is performed in a warehouse environment subject to temperature variances.
Hours
Monday-Friday second shift- start time 9:00 am. Weekends when necessary.
