Rand Logistics, Inc. is the parent company of American Steamship Company, Lower Lakes Towing LTD., Grand River Navigation Company, Inc., and Conneaut Creek Ship Repair. We are one of the largest marine transportation service providers operating on the Great Lakes today with a dedicated ship repair facility and a combined fleet of 22 bulk freight vessels in service to over 50 customers across the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway System.
Our company is seeking a well-organized and self-directed persons for the position of Lead Driver. This position will be located in our Toledo, OH location.
Under the direction of the Supply Chain manager, the Warehouse Foreman is responsible for unloading inbound delivery trucks, managing items in warehouse, logging items received in procurement software system (NS5), loading out-bound delivery trucks, createing and distributeing delivery manifests, updateing and maintaining shoreside inventory and records for all items stored at the Toledo warehouse, reviewing vessel schedules and coordinate driver’s daily schedules, performing general light maintenance of the warehouse building and grounds, communicating with the purchasing department, vessel personnel, marine superintendents, and vendors and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Shipping & receiving at Toledo Warehouse.
- Loading and transporting vessel supplies to vessel locations around the Great Lakes.
- Transporting crew members to vessel locations around the Great Lakes.
- Shuttle crew to and from the Detroit Airport and locations around the Great Lakes region.
- Communicate with Crewing Department for dispatch instructions and updates on delays.
- Safety check of vehicle prior to use.
- Follow all policies and procedures pertaining to employment.
- Warehouse property maintenance
Required Skills
- Available to work days, evenings and weekends to support Warehouse operations.
- Overnight stays may be occasionally required.
- Sitting and driving for extended periods of time.
- Good communication and navigation skills.
- Able to drive at night on back-roads, highways, in urban areas and in adverse weather conditions when deemed safe.
- Available to be on-call.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED or Equivalent
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Commercial driving experience, preferred
- Drug and alcohol prescreening will be required.
- Participation in the Company Random Drug Program.
- Driving Record Background Screen will be required.
- Must have general knowledge of Great Lakes ships, their equipment and their ports of call.
- Must be able to safely operate forklifts.
- General familiarity with computers.
- Eligible to obtain TWIC Card.
- Must be admissible to Canada.
This is a full-time position. Weekly schedule and hours will vary.
