Vocational Rehabilitation - MInot, ND - VR Counselor

The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is seeking a highly motivated person to join the Team in Minot!

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you will engage with culturally diverse job seekers who will range in age, disabilities, and capabilities. To assist individuals, achieve their employment goal, you will provide services including but not limited to career and worksite assessments, vocational guidance & counseling, skills coaching, facilitate job placements, and refer to community partners and programs for additional support services and training. In addition to individual client services, you will work to develop and maintain close professional relationships with community partners and employers to ensure Vocational Rehabilitation maintains a presence as a trusted resource for the community to address disability worksite solutions and employee education.

This position requires flexibility while working independently and within a team.

To succeed in this position, you should be highly organized and be able to effectively manage time and priorities to meet regional and statewide deadlines and goals according to state and federal guidelines, and policies and procedures. Other responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with job seekers, community partners, and employers. You must also be willing and able to travel within and outside the Minot region for training and outreach services.

TeamND and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation uses a hybrid workplace model. Counselors will provide essential services face to face in the office, outreach community locations, and from their home office. To be considered for this position, you must have the following:

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor requires: Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Administration/Services, Psychometrics, Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, Vocational Assessment/Evaluation or Human Development & Family Science AND one of the following:

  • Two (2) years of direct service experience working with persons with disabilities

  • One (1) year of experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor

  • Master’s degree in one of the above disciplines.

The applicant is eligible for a higher level position of a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor if the candidate has a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Administration/Services, Psychometrics, Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education or Vocational Assessment/Evaluation AND two (2) years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor AND be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
