Basic Function:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Student Success, the VITAL Program Director provides leadership and project management to VITAL (Vocational Identity, Talent, and Academic Learning), which is a five-year grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Title V - Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program. The Program Director spearheads the development and execution of the project in order to carry out key goals related to improving the retention and graduation rates of Hispanic and low-income students and improving the university's fiscal stability.

Representative Duties:
Provide leadership, management and administrative direction for the VITAL project including program oversight and compliance. E
Implement professional development for faculty on topics related to culturally inclusive and responsive mentoring practices focused on students vocational discernment and career guidance. E
Assess and strengthen internships by building relationships with employers in the region. E
Design a Focus mentoring program for new Hispanic and low-income students to feel a sense of belonging. E
Provide culturally inclusive training to supervisors of student workers on campus to ensure students receive meaningful work experiences. E
Conduct training for Peer Advisors on topics such as culturally relevant and inclusive practices, academic mindset development, health and wellness, financial literacy, time management, socio-emotional wellness, etc. E
Collaborate with Digital Learning in the Center for Teaching and Learning to implement the redesign of courses for online instruction. E
Implement in conjunction with the Financial Aid Office a financial literacy program to support Hispanic and low-income students. E
Ensure the establishment of an endowment to support University-sponsored Employment. E
Develop and implement an evaluation program that tracks program goals and objectives. E
Manage the VITAL grant budget; prepare annual budgets; track expenditure; authorize expenditure of funds ensuring the appropriate utilization of funds. E
Work with the Business Office on account reconciliation, budget modifications; collaborate with other offices to ensure proper disbursements of stipends, consultant payments, and participation certificates. E
Prepare semi-annual and annual program and financial reports; prepare all grant fiscal and progress reports as required. E
Work with University Marketing and Website teams to produce information materials in print and online. E
Keep updated records and create reports or proposals. E
Maintain the confidentiality of student records and other information according to FERPA regulations. E
Represent Cal Lutheran and the projects at conferences and events. E
Interpret and ensure compliance with University policies, the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), the Government Performance and Results Act (GERPA), and the General Educational Provisions Act (GEPA). E

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: A masters degree in Higher EducationAdministration/College Student Personnel or a related discipline and four years of experience in research, instructional management and/or project management, with proficiency in grant management and experience supporting a diverse population of students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Maintaining accurate budget records and fiscal management; demonstrated experience in college advising and mentoring programs; strong oral and written communication skills; and event planning and organizational skills.
