This is a critical role that will help build and lead the people, culture and organizational development function. This position will contribute at both hands-on and strategic levels to encourage a thriving, innovative and inclusive culture. The ideal candidate will bring thought leadership and creative solutions to the Credit Union. The position will partner with our leadership team to help drive company strategy. This is a leadership position.

Essential Duties
: A successful VP of People must spend over 50% of work time on, and satisfactorily perform, these general categories of duties, which require significant discretion and independent judgment:

  • Be an advocate for employees and the organization, managing internal dynamics and promoting and being a steward of our company culture

  • Create systems to support retention and employee growth

  • Guide and coach managers on how to appropriately manage and resolve complex people issues

  • Formalize and expand the company's learning and development programs

  • Plan and maintain an effective long-term talent acquisition program

  • Maintain and enhance the company's performance review program

  • Perform compensation analysis

  • Help curate and maintain HR related company policies and procedures

  • Ensure our HRIS data is accurate and that we have a process for data cleanliness

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment law, and stay current on all updates and requirements


Additional Duties:

  • Collaborate and strategize with other Departments to ensure smooth operations of the Credit Union.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all functions related to respective areas of oversight.

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the direct reports.

  • Supervise and manage in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Conduct periodic one-on-one meetings with subordinates.

  • This position directly supervises department leads.

Experience:

  • 8 to 10 years of similar or related experience leading HR, Staff Development and Talent Management

  • Experience building an effective and collaborative team

  • Experience developing culture and working with a diverse team

  • Experience designing processes and rolling them out across large teams

  • Experience overseeing compensation and benefits

  • Experience with recruiting and talent acquisition

  • Proficient in HR-tech software and data driven people operations

  • Proficient with employment law and compliant recordkeeping


Education:

Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field) and/or equivalent experience is required.

Physical Demands:

This is an office-based position involving primarily non-manual labor. Reliable, predictable, on-time attendance is essential, particularly to assure supervisory duties are fulfilled. The associate will spend most of the working time sitting, standing or walking while performing essential duties. The position includes significant time using computers to enter and obtain information, including repetitive hand movements. Essential duties include the daily ability to focus on several tasks at one time, analyze data and draw conclusions, accurately perform mathematical computations, analyze and explain complex information, communicate frequently with others in person, over the phone, via electronic communications, and in group presentations. The associate must be able to travel among the branches. The position may include occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
