Purpose of the job
The Vice President, Food Packaging, Americas will be responsible for North America business of kp’s Food Packaging Division (FP). The incumbent will:
Lead the North America region across Commercial and Operations as well as all of its major value creation initiatives towards becoming a strongly growing, highly profitable business;
Unite all regional sites and functions behind a joint vision and mission, embed a strong growth culture, implement unified business processes to enable speed and scalability in execution, in order to successfully capture exponential growth opportunities in the North American market.
The role reports into the President of the Food Division and the scope includes oversight over all North American FP production sites and regional functions, including Sales for Rigids, Trays, and Flexibles.
Tasks and responsibilities
Lead the North America business and all major value creation initiatives for the region
Make customer orientation and the desire to delight customers the north star towards which all activity throughout the organization is geared.
On a yearly basis, refresh the regional strategy in line with budget, Division and Group targets. Have the capability and drive to over achieve.
In particular, successfully deliver the following value creation initiatives
Strengthen sales pipeline growth and management, across rigid films and trays.
Ensure seamless sales execution, in particular of customer trials and onboarding processes to ensure swift realization of new business opportunities.
Stabilize operations in the West Virginia plant. Improve quality and service metrics. Imptove team capability, addressing existing gaps. Manage significant capex investments coming in in 2023 and 2024.
Identify and implement new value creation initiatives beyond the above
Regularly review the current state of business and value creation levers, identify risks and shortfalls, define and implement countermeasures
Break down functional barriers, ensuring the North America organization works as one closely aligned team towards execution of the value creation initiatives.
Manage the regional employee organization and operational set-up, identify organizational and cultural adjustments needs, outline and implement change
Coach regional function and site leaders
Represent the region, its growth mindset and our corporate values within the global organization.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with employees, other business areas, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure effective execution of growth initiatives
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations
Provide constructive feedback and regularly report on progress and outcomes of regional value creation initiatives and strategy execution
Functional /Technical Skills
Very hands-on and senior personality, with a strong growth mindset and ability to inspire and influence the regional sites and functions in a unified direction and with a unified vision
High level of assertiveness, results orientation, and drive
Very strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team of highly experienced and specialized regional function leads towards creating a high growth and high profit business
Very solid financial background, enabling the candidate to directly engage with Executive Management, shareholders and the Finance organization
Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to translate complex situations into clear and easy messages
Exceptional level of energy, stress resilience, self-reflection, focus and motivation. Self-starter
Strong skills in MS Office programs and SAP
Experience
Relevant industry experience:
Preferably in packaging and adjacent industries
Experience of having managed a P&L with proven experience of responsibility for both commercial and operations functions.
Strong track record of driving business growth on a multi-national scale, turning around production site performance and achieving major cultural shifts in employee organizations
Experience with designing and implementing complex value creation initiatives
Leadership experience in holistic operational and financial performance improvement programs
Well versed in multi-project, multi-site and multi-team management
Comfortable navigating in international work environments, transatlantic and matrix organizational structures
Track record of quickly establishing trustful and influential relationships with employees at all levels
Solid set of values, dependable attitude, entrepreneurial and growth mindset
Competencies
