This is a 6-month contract opportunity for our top pharmaceutical client!

The Contract Veterinarian will provide clinical veterinary coverage during recruiting period of Clinical Veterinarian. The Contractor will provide hands-on clinical veterinary care and case documentation using DVMax Software and report findings to the AV or Comparative Medicine Director.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The contractor will work Monday through Friday, 8 hrs. daily, and provide clinical veterinary care and case documentation using DVMax software.
• The contractor will conduct daily veterinary rounds with the Veterinary Technician or trained designee.
• The contractor will assist with sample collection for sentinel +/- health monitoring program. The contractor will review results and report findings to the AV and/or Comparative Medicine Director.
• The contractor will participate in veterinary and pre-study planning.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Will have relationships and interactions with animal health technicians, veterinary and research technicians, Operations Managers, IACUC Coordinator, Regulatory Veterinarian and Comparative Medicine Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• DVM/VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
• Formal training in comparative medicine with diplomate status in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine
• License to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state within the US

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a diverse group of people including research staff in regard to the veterinary care of animals.
• Required handling, physical and chemical restraint of laboratory rodents
• Required experience in animal model development and refinement.
• Required clinical veterinary experience with rodents.
• Preferred experience with veterinary health management software such as DVMax.
• Preferred MS Office.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Fit tested for the following respirators: 9210+, 8210, 8210MX
• Standing, walking, sitting, lifting

100% onsite will need to adhere to return to site policy

Hard Skills -

• Required clinical veterinary experience with rodents.
• Will have relationships and interactions with: animal health technicians, veterinary and research technicians, Operations Managers, IACUC Coordinator, Regulatory Veterinarian, Comparative Medicine Director.
• The contractor will participate in veterinary and pre-study planning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $230.00 - $260.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability

• San Diego, CA 92121: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

• DVMAX: 1 year (Required)
• Rodent: 5 years (Preferred)
