Valley ASAP: Part-Time Alcohol Education & Driver Improvement Facilitator

Valley ASAP is accepting applications for the position of part–time Alcohol Education and Driver Improvement Facilitator. Successful applicants will provide classroom instruction for clients assigned to a drug or alcohol education class. The ASAP instructors use a didactic-group process and criteria approved by the Commission on ASAP. This part-time position is compensated at a rate of $15 per hour. The hours of this position vary. Training and instruction in the curriculum will be provided.

The responsibilities of an ASAP Instructor include:

• Provides educational/group process services to persons classified and referred for services by the ASAP case manager.
• Utilizes the appropriate COVASAP-approved curriculum
• Records and reports probationers’ attendance
• Maintains the confidentiality of participants
• Administers sobriety checks as needed
• Provides mid-point and final reports on probationers
• Reports to ASAP case manager probationer’s continued use of substances or need for additional intervention
• Attends a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education each year, including any COVASAP-sponsored training made available

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in human services or related fields, knowledge of the basic psychological and social principles of substance abuse, and a minimum of two (1) years of teaching or facilitating experience. Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the above may be accepted. Qualified candidates must possess a valid driver's license. Applicants possessing a general knowledge of criminal justice and/or other human services field, and the ability to speak Spanish are encouraged to apply.
