TOWN OF DAYTON

Position Title: Utility/ Street Superintendent

Hours: 7AM To 4PM unless other hours are required for the task at hand, as approved by the Dayton Town Council not to exceed 40 hours per week.

Will consider full-time or part-time applicant.

Nighttime and weekend work may be required at times.

Supervised by: Dayton Town Council

Job Summary: (not intended to be all-inclusive)

- Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations and maintenance of all Town of Dayton infrastructure

- Perform all aspects of operation, sampling, monitoring, and testing required except when delegated

- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations that govern water, wastewater, and stormwater testing and operations

- Collect wastewater samples and maintains records as required

- Monitors Neptune meters and systems for any changes that may indicate problem areas

- Conduct regular and unscheduled repairs and maintenance on equipment and machinery as needed

- Ensure routine care and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, streets, sidewalks, etc

- Maintains maintenance logs for all equipment and infrastructure

- General town maintenance, including mowing, snowplowing, minor street repair, etc

- Reports to Town Council Monthly & Liaison daily or as directed

Minimum Requirements:

Work experience in municipal utilities and streets. Experience with Neptune systems preferred.

Certification in DSS required.

High school diploma or GED equivalent with specialized coursework or training.

5 years’ experience in municipal utilities and streets preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge of computer systems and office equipment and possess general troubleshooting skills.

Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, ordinances, and established procedures.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English.

Must possess excellent writing skills using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Must practice the highest of ethical standards and professionalism in person, over the telephone, via email, and on social media.

Must pass drug and alcohol testing.

Must pass criminal background check.

Must be able to move and lift 50 pounds.

Learn and utilize proper procedures.

Abide at all times by standards set by Internal Controls, the Indiana State Board of Accounts, and Indiana laws and regulations.

Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Dayton Town Council.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (not intended to be all inclusive)

Files and maintains correspondence, records, and official documents.

Respond to correspondence under the direction of the Town Council.

Communicate with Dayton residents to address issues as needed.

Monitor and maintain Dayton lift stations and infrastructure

Trouble shoot abnormal water use as indicated by Neptune systems.

Install or replace water meters as needed.

Locate Dayton water and sewer infrastructure for construction projects or digging.

Performs all required testing and maintains all records as required.

Maintain Dayton vehicles and equipment.

Maintain Dayton Town Hall and other Dayton property by mowing, string trimming, etc as needed.

Plow snow on Dayton streets as needed, day or night.

Apply sand and salt on Dayton streets as needed, day or night.

Patch or repair Dayton streets as needed.

Work with an engineering firmto monitor street projects.

Facilitate all parts of CCMG projects, including selecting streets using the Paser Report, ensuring compliance with INDOT requirements, and monitoring work in progress.

Communicate and work with the Dayton Town Council.

Attend monthly meeting and report on streets and utilities.

Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Dayton Town Council.
