Overview:
The Desktop Support Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level. This role is fully on-site in San Antonio, Texas at our Woodstone location.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical support to primary office site, remote offices and home office/remote workers.
  • Field incoming requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from Carenet internal customers
  • Install, configure, and manage or troubleshoot Windows 10, Windows 11, Mac OS workstations/Laptops, printers, and applications on workstations.
  • Assist users on the use of VPN and associated security devices as well as troubleshoot end user issues related to these for work at home users.
  • Ensure that all systems are maintained at current patch levels for operating system, browsers, security and applications.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new hardware and software to support end user computing needs.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Install and maintain anti-virus software with in house automated tools and ensure the compliance to enterprise security policy.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of company-wide standard software
  • Provide on-call support for a 24x7 operations and be able to work any shift and participate in leading team projects as requested.
  • Will need to organize and prioritize work and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical support, oversight, and leadership to team members and projects
  • Resolve defects and roadblocks for the team and develop, mentor, and groom technicians
  • Assists IT personnel in identifying the root cause of production defects
  • Tracks and enters their time weekly into Carenet’s Time Entry/Project Planning system
  • Stay current with technology with a focus Carenet technology and provide Executive support
  • Participates in process improvement, recommending changes in policies and procedures
  • Supports and develops other team members by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
  • Set up, configure, and install media equipment such as third party all in one camera/speakers
  • Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment
  • Be on standby to resolve sound and visual equipment during live events
  • Test any new equipment for conference room and approve it for Carenet use and troubleshoot and adjusting the AV equipment.
Qualifications:

This is an entry level on site position.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science from a four-year college or university with at least two years of experience developing applications using .Net technology; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience preferred in the areas of software development, web application architecture, service-oriented architecture, and network architecture.
  • Ideally, this candidate will have experience in full-stack development as they will interact with all tiers of the system to develop solutions.
  • Any industry applicable certification (A+, MCP, etc.) would also help distinguish candidates.
