Job description
Verify that all patient chart identification is correct.
Answers intercom, call system and telephone and promptly relays messages as necessary. Initiates calls to physicians as ordered.
Assists with patients' provision of care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area (neonate to adult/geriatric).
Interprets hospital policies to visitors or staff utilizing “guest relations” skills. Answers questions from patients, family and visitors, and accurately relays messages to appropriate members of the health care team.
Ensure that patient charts have ample supply of needed forms stamped accurately with patient identification.
Adheres to the proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintains adequate supply levels through the use of accurate inventory control.
Carries out clerical duties, pertaining to the functions of the clinical department, as directed by the manager or charge nurse.
Completion of annual required training and learning modules including "Safe Medication Handling for Staff Who Do Not Administer Medications"
Experience
Preferred- 1 year(s): Experience as a Unit Secretary
Education
Required- High School/GED or better
