Job Description

We are looking for a highly-motivated, product-focused UI Architect that's passionate about leading the development of modern, effortless, and scalable applications.You thrive in honing your skills to adapt to new technologies and working outside of your comfort zone. You are comfortable being responsible for analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and evolving a product in a fast-paced, test and learn environment. You will work closely with our product and design teams to build world class experiences solving unique problems in the Geoscience and Data Science spaces. To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about entrepreneurship and highly skilled at finding problems and implementing solutions to improve the product. What You'll Do:

    • Lead a community of brilliant and motivated engineers building a modern and cohesive UI platform supporting products across multiple lines of business
    • Establish and nurture best practices in UI development and tooling
    • Own and review work for accuracy, quality, performance, and completeness
    • Build responsive, beautiful web applications, and software products.
    • Implement new features in a highly collaborative environment with product managers, UI/UX experts, and fellow engineers.
    • Contribute to a future-ready, high quality, and performance code base
    • Share your technical solutions and product ideas with the team

What You'll Bring:

    • Experience building and maintaining a modern UI platform leveraged by multiple applications
    • Experience building reusable components and maintaining design systems
    • Strong consensus-building communication skills
    • Experience with CI/CD leveraging tools like Jenkins/Harness/CircleCI
    • Experience with performance optimization techniques
    • Experience designing and integrating with APIs (REST/GraphQL)
    • Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile and lean software development, TDD, unit/integration testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc…)
    • Extensive experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus
    • Experience with Python, GoLang, or Java is a plus
    • Experience with AWS (EC2, Autoscaling, Lambda, IAM, S3, SQS, RDS, EKS/ECS) is a plus
    • Entrepreneurial / Startup experience is a big plus
    • UX / UI design experience is a plus

Experience:

    • 10+ years software engineering experience with expertise in technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript and Node frameworks (Next.js/Express, etc)
    • 5+ years of experience with React or similar frameworks
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.

Time Commitment / Travel Requirements

    • Full-time
    • Preferred location: Austin, Remote for the right candidate
    • Up to 25% travel may be required
