TITLE: Boys and Girls Club After School Leader
DEPARTMENT: Operations Department
REPORTS TO: Middle School Coordinator
STATUS: Part-time, 20 hours/week, Non-Exempt, Grant Funded*
HOURLY RATE: $26

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position will typically work the hours of Monday – Thursday, occasional Fridays for Field Trips 1:30 - 6:30 pm. This position will work with middle-school adolescents (11-14 years of age) in a designated school during after-school hours. This position will work closely with other staff, school personnel and partner programs, will plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities and programs provided for middle schoolmembers focusing on STEM, workforce development, career development and financial literacy. Some variable hours to accommodate field trips and school calendars (I.e., non-school days, early release/late-start,etc). *This is a grant funded position and employment beyond the initial grant timeline is contingent upon further grant funding.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Create and implement fun and exciting activities that inspire participation within guidelines as outlined by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County and Esser Grant requirements
focusing on the needs and interests of adolescents:

? Ensure food for the program is ordered and prepared for members
? Reserving of Facilities/Space for the program
? Ensure transportation is available
? Assist in invoicing for reimbursement
? Inclusive of all members through flexible adaptation of programs and activities as
necessary to meet the needs of members
? Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and preparation of
necessary materials
? Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with school personnel and partner
programs to set program goals and weekly plans.
? Communicate positively and create relationships with members, families and community
during programs and special events as assigned and under the direction of assigned
supervisor(s)
? Assist in the planning and organization of field trips
? Provide positive guidance, redirection, and be a role model to members
? Implement and participate in Esser Grant program expectations
? Meet the required number of continuing education hours and qualifications (provided)
? Provide services and activities under the supervision of assigned supervisor(s) to ensure
safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the Club always.
? Apply appropriate positive guidance and behavior management techniques through the
guidance of the assigned supervisor.
? Arrange program spaces to meet developmentally appropriate leaning environment
standards
? Always maintain member attendance and tracking procedures
? Clean, disinfect and/or sanitize program materials and spaces
? Adhere to Middle School/Teen Best Practices
? Abstain from personal phone usage while supervising members

? Adhere to the rules, policies, and/or procedures of the assigned school site.

Ensure a productive work environment by engaging in professional behavior:

? Participate in Club staff meetings
? Attend training and staff development sessions as discussed with supervisor
? Uphold our organizational core values and code of ethics

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. May be required to participate in special programs and/or events as assigned
2. May be required to drive Club vans
3. May require additional day hours
4. Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane
County
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional, volunteer and partner programs),
Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/
instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains close, daily contact with school personnel. Follows all policies and procedures as
outlined in the employee handbook regarding professional behavior.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
? At least 18 years of age
? High School Diploma/GED/HSED required
? At least 1 year prior middle school or teen development experience
? Eligibility as a Caregiver by the Department of Children and Families
? Successful completion of drug screening, physical examination, and tuberculosis
testing.
? CPR certified within 3 months of assuming the position.
? The ability and desire to work with adolescents in a variety of settings.
? Flexibility, adaptability, and desire to work in a team environment.
? Additional Day Availability to support field trips and non-school days

REQUIRED HOURS
The regular hours for this position are 3:35pm-6:15pm Monday-Friday. Optional Friday field-trips. This
program is open when the school is open. For any early release or late start for school, hours will adjust to
accommodate school hours for the day. Must be able to travel to clubs and schools.
WORK LOCATION
This is a direct service role working with youth and adolescents in person. This role will travel between
Club Locations based on the needs of the organization. All COVID-19-mandated policies must be
followed as posted.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating
instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts

and/or technical information with others. Ability to visually monitor activities of club members. The
employee is required to be able to perform CPR or first aid. The employee is required to use hands to
handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb
or balance, and stoop, jump, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may need to operate a motor
vehicle. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is required to stand or walk for
extended periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
