Job description
Responsible for the accurate data collection, data abstraction, maintenance, and reporting of all trauma cases diagnosed and/or treated at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) and as required by the appropriate regulatory agencies. Responsible for timely and accurate data entry into the SMHCS Trauma Registry software. Works with all trauma-related departments within SMHCS to ensure complete inclusion of all appropriate patients. Performs a variety of duties involved in the organization, oversight, and documentation of the Trauma Registry.
Required Qualifications:
- Require Associate’s degree. High school diploma and two (2) years of relevant experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the required degree.
- Require two (2) years of experience in data base entry, data management or medical record chart review.
- Require certification as a Certified Trauma Registrar within three (3) years of employment or upon availability to sit for examination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer current certification as Trauma Registrar.
- Prefer previous Trauma Registry experience and ICD coding experience.
- Prefer coding certification (Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or CPC-H (Certified Professional Coder – Hospital) with Trauma Registry experience.
- Prefer positive interpersonal skills, human relations, and oral/written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to details, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Prefer demonstrated computer experience with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office applications.
- Prefer previous Trauma Registry experience and latest version of ICD coding experience.
