Position: Transit; (Instructor, Educator) Trainer

Location: 312 Resource Rd, Dunlap, TN 37327

Essential Function

Standard

Train Transit Operators

Applicant does not need to have knowledge of required curriculum stated below. SETHRA will provide curriculum training.

Curriculum required by TDOT and MCO’s, HIPAA, Confidentially, Code of Conduct, customer service, distracted driving, accident incident procedures, blood-borne pathogens,

pre-and post-trip inspections, mental health issues, customer service, securement of mobility devices, passenger assistance, and ADA guidelines, TennCare Fraud and Abuse, FTA drug/alcohol program; PowerPoint; Instructor Evaluation Form, RouteMatch, StaffPro

· Facilitate training at least monthly for new hires within three weeks of request from supervisor.

· Facilitate annual training for existing transit operators within three weeks of request from supervisor.

· Facilitate retraining of Transit Operators within two weeks of issue identification.

· Schedule and evaluate each Transit Operator’s driving skills during ride-a-longs at least annually.

· Input required information into Transit Software upon completion of training

· Train Transit Operators on the use of vehicle tablets at least annually.

Monitor New Hire Operator compliance

Refresher Road Test Form

· Monitor new transit operators within the first 2 months following training completion via scheduled ride-a-longs.

Monitor video footage

Camera System -vMaxView

· Review videos immediately following an accident or incident and no later 1 business day following the event.

· Review transit video footage on 10 different buses each month.

Certification Documentation and Compliance

CPR, DOT, clean MVR, Motor Vehicle Laws, Background Checks, Physicals

· Upload, email, and file documents of backgrounds, MVR, physicals, and training documentation upon receipt but no longer than 5 business days.

· Monitor documentation compliance and immediately email supervisor of noncompliance issues.

Documentation

NEMT: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation; New hire training form, Code of Conduct Form, Conflict of Interest Form, Confidentiality Form

· Distribute, review, and collect documentation at each new hire training.

· Document concerns and violations observed in video footage or during ride-a-longs and provide a report to

Supervisor within 1 business day of observance.

Safety Violation Reporting

Receive accident information from Operations Managers

· Maintain vehicle accident files and forward pertinent information to the insurance broker as soon as received from Operations Manager.

· Communicate requested information to the insurance company representative and or attorneys within 1 business day of the request.

· Notify Maintenance Director of any damage to vehicles immediately or no later than the next business day.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Attributes

· Knowledge of Federal Transit Authority, DOT, TDOT, ADA, and mental health conditions

· Knowledge of and sensitivity to the elderly and those who suffer from mental health conditions.

· Knowledge of vehicle and lift operations.

· Emergency evacuation procedures relevant to transportation.

· Ability to be certified to teach CPR/First Aid.

· Thorough understanding of safety functions and goals.

· Apply effective system policies and procedures.

· Interact effectively with staff and the public.

· Ability to work as a team and independently.

· Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.

· Ability to handle sensitive matters and exercise sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality.

· Ability to adapt to changes in daily schedule.

· Exceptional public speaking and training facilitator skills.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

· Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving.

· Proficient computer skills as well as the ability to learn and operate relevant software.

· Ability to create PowerPoint and/or Prezi presentations.

· Ability to interact with people of different cultures.

· Willingness to work early mornings and late evenings when needed.

· Willingness to travel.

· Ability to take direction from supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

· High School degree or equivalent.

· Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred.

· Minimum of two years of experience speaking to small and medium-size audiences.

· Minimum of two years of experience facilitating training.

Additional Work Requirements

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

· Required Class D Driver’s License with an F endorsement.

· Pre-employment background check.

· Ability to become certified as a trainer in First Aid and CPR procedures.

· Must maintain clean Motor Vehicle Record.

· Employees in this job position are subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, drug and/or alcohol screenings.

· Must obtain and maintain a TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) medical card throughout employment with SETHRA.

· Must wear glasses or contact lenses if a requirement on license.

· Must wear hearing-aids, if applicable.

· Must attend and complete regular scheduled training sessions.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment and in a Transportation vehicle work environment which include variations of outside weather conditions.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The position operates in an office and a mobile environment.

Must be able to use mobility devices for training in office and outside conditions.

Ability to perform physical demands of the position.

Able to lift 50 pounds.

Speak, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but hours may vary depending on travel to counties.

Travel

Some travel is expected for this position.
