Summary

Balfour Beatty Rail, is seeking talented individuals for a Transit Systems Construction Estimator opening. This role will be working with the bid team that supports our Major & Regional Rail Business. This position will be involved with transit, commuter rail, and high speed rail pursuits which includes design-build, hard dollar bids ( rip and read ), and operations and maintenance projects.

Essential Functions

• Primarily leading estimates of Automatic Train Control, Signaling/Block, Field and Station Communications Systems/SCADA, Overhead Catenary, and Traction Power (both modular and built-on-site) Systems.
• Analyzing project plans and specifications to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates
• Technical writing for bids that require qualification proposals
• Clear understanding of the market in which Balfour Beatty Rail operates, including an awareness of competitors and new initiatives
• Recognize discrepancies in the project plans and specifications; including commercial terms and conditions of the contract.
• Comfortable with understanding project plans and specifications; including owner-directed staged work phases, understanding over-time, double-time, and lost production times due to the owner s schedule.
• Comfortable in handling large files with confidential data
• Based out of Denver, CO and must be willing to travel frequently to various projects we are bidding on across the country.

Minimum/Preferred Requirements

• 5 years of experience in a Lead Systems Estimator position with knowledge and experience in various electrical systems.
• Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Knowledgeable and efficient in basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office suite).
• Understanding of IBEW and other trade union contracts.
• Experience with use of HCSS estimating software is preferred.
