Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and presentation of training courses on operation, safety, and service of the Elgin Sweeper product line.
  • Responsible for the development of technical based curriculum in conjunction with Technical Publications and Service teams to ensure consistency across documentation and training.
  • Responsible for the development of training programs deliverable through both multi-media and classroom presentations. Schedule classes at the Elgin Sweeper facility or in the field as required and maintain the Elgin Training facilities.
  • Responsible for the design and maintenance of training aids/documentation to be used during training programs for manipulative skills.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Service to gather technical up to date information and incorporate into training aids and curriculum.
  • Interact with all cross-functional groups within the Technical Information department to improve the quality of information and training provided to dealer network and customers.
  • Interact with the Regional Service & Support Managers to coordinate updated information needed by dealers to properly maintain and service Elgin Sweeper products.
  • Interact with Vactor Manufacturing Technical Training Instructors to ensure alignment of the training format between Vactor and Elgin Sweeper products across dealer network.
  • Be a technical resource for product operational and service information to both internal and external customers.
  • Research and develop new technologies to ensure training programs are growing to meet current and future requirements of both internal and external dealer network and customer base.
  • Minimal travel (up to 10%) may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree in automotive technology or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of vehicle product experience with ability to demonstrate technical training regarding vehicle diagnostics or troubleshooting skills as it relates to repair.
  • Excellent product technical skills including thorough understanding of Hydraulic, Electrical, and Mechanical systems as it relates to mobile equipment required.
  • Technical knowledge of engines and drive train highly desired.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills with sound, professional customer handling skills required.
  • Operational experience with electronic service diagnostic tools and systems required.
  • Demonstrated ability in the development of technical information with ability to present this effectively to audiences with varied technical expertise required.
  • High degree of detail orientation required and ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints to complete work and meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Ability to independently build effective presentations utilizing various office equipment such as computer, projector, digital equipment/devices, and printer.
  • Daily working knowledge with Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Windows required.
