Purpose of the Job

The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Training & Development Specialist serves as an ambassador and advocate of Truliant’s culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Development Specialist designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates quality training, huddle guides, learnshops, and other programmatic materials in multiple formats of delivery in order to establish a foundational knowledge for employees and leadership to practice DEI within their roles, teams, and the overall organization. The Development Specialist ensures trainings and materials meet business and human performance objectives that enhance workplace culture and improve staff’s abilities to enhance the lives of our members. Primary responsibilities include strategizing, planning, implementing, and following up on diversity, equity, and inclusion materials, content, topics, presentations, and events.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Director of Frontline Training & Development on training development, content sourcing, design, and implementation strategies, delivery, and assessment for classroom, virtual and branch location settings.
  • Partners with the Senior Vice President and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and other stakeholders to promote and execute the enterprise-wide DEI vision, goals and strategies.
  • Serves on and provides training support to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
  • Partners with Human Resources and the DEI team to facilitate sensitivity or other DEI-related training as needed.
  • Serves and assists as a Myers Briggs subject-matter expert to intact team leadership, through the partnership with the various depts. and the Leadership Development Coordinator, by leading team-specific Myers Briggs related training as needed.
  • Provides DEI and Myers Briggs subject-matter training and facilitation expertise as needed and in support of corporate activities, events, and work-groups.
  • Delivers effective oral presentations before small and large groups of people as well as audiences that range from entry-level to senior executives.
  • Creates quality, interactive training programs that incorporate appropriate adult learning methodologies and proactively seeks ways to make communications, instructions, FAQs, etc. concise and simple for the intended audience.
  • Conducts audience and task analysis to determine skills and objectives for coaching opportunities and performance improvement.
  • Creates professional materials to assist in training delivery such as facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, skill checks, role-plays, scenarios etc. in a timely manner.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the training industry including presentation aids, equipment, presentation techniques, adult learning methodology, and related topics.
  • Determines appropriate delivery methods for training content (i.e. classroom, CBT etc.) that promotes efficiencies and expedites speed to competency.
  • Confers with management and departments to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes in DEI culture, policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Assesses and communicates training participants’ strengths, weaknesses in specific skills and behaviors.
  • Measures and evaluates effectiveness of training/orientation programs and/or job performance products/software.
  • Creates training curriculum for on the job training and support
  • Builds compelling initiatives to bring Truliant’s norms to life and inspires team members to internalize aligned behavior and mindsets
  • Maintains and tracks all training functions accurately and in a timely manner in Learning Management System software (Truliant Academy).
  • Ensures accuracy of training documents, manuals, job aides etc. in Knowledge Management System (Truliant Library) in a timely manner.

    • Must have understanding of adult learning methodologies
    • Must understand process and methods of training/orientation design, delivery and evaluation
    • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
    • Must have superior interpersonal and coaching skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
    • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with leadership
    • Must possess the ability to initiate and communicate change and possess a positive attitude while explaining and supporting organizational decisions, directions and procedures
    • Must have strong skills in MS Office Suite
    • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
    • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment required
    • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
    • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines concurrently
    • Must be able to adapt and grow in an ever-changing environment and industry
    • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant’s members and employees

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time in order to conduct training sessions
  • Occasional walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds

Education and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion specific or related certifications or credentials required
  • 1-3 years previous training experience preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience with curriculum development preferred
  • Franklin Covey or Development Dimensions International certifications preferred
  • ATD certifications or membership preferred
  • Experience with Articulate/Camtasia/Snag-it self-authoring software preferred
  • Experience with learning and knowledge management systems software preferred
  • Myers Briggs (MBTI) assessment/training certification preferred
