Service Market Logistics (SML) is an organization within Volvo Group Truck Operations (GTO). Our responsibilities are to design, manage, and optimize the supply chain of aftermarket parts for all Volvo Group brands. In North America we support Mack and Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, and several Volvo Bus brands. The scope of SML includes transport of material to warehouses, inventory management, management of packaging, and dealer order fulfillment. We ensure that all logistics services are delivered with world class operational excellence utilizing Lean Thinking and Quality at Source.

We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual as a Trainer for our Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS. This Byhalia CDC is a 1.2 million square foot facility located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN and employs approximately 630 employees. This position reports to the Communications/Training Manager of the Byhalia CDC.

Position Description
Responsible for the development and delivery of training materials on company products, processes, and technologies to ensure that team members develop, maintain, and increase their development skills and process knowledge. Conducts presentations and webinars. Works under general instruction with some direct supervision.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Create and support standard work and training practices for blue- and white-collar team members.
  • Maintains and creates training plans, updates the training matrix, various SharePoint sites and site trainings.
  • Maintains all training documents and procedures, updating and creating as needed with revision controls, collaborating with management and team members.
  • Validate training effectiveness, assesses training needs and certification requirements.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and support the onboarding program.
  • Conduct technical training for team members on the floor.
  • Prepares training material and classroom agenda.
  • Assure and conduct high quality, calibrated training across all aspects of the site.
  • Conducts presentations and webinars.
  • Partner in safety and quality training within the site.
  • Develop themselves and others to support organizational readiness.
  • Act as a liaison for continuous improvement training and communication across the site.
  • Ensures the quality and consistency of course content throughout a course life cycle.
  • Tests process with different subjects.
  • Plans and directs classroom training, electronic learning, multimedia programs, and other computer-aided instructional technologies, simulators, conferences, and workshops
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience, bilingual Spanish speaking a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge on the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Training and coaching experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and nights
