The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad is seeking to employ a Maintenance of Way (MOW) Track Laborer. The person in
this position works safely alongside the MOW crews in the performance of track maintenance, repair and new
track construction activities surrounding the MOW job or project functions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Perform track maintenance, repair, and installation, including cutting in rails, plugging spike holes, pulling

spikes with a claw bar, driving spikes into ties with a spike maul, removing and installing ties with tie tongs,
cutting vegetation and brush, handling and moving track materials and equipment, unloading or assist in
unloading of ballast from rail car or truck.

  • Work with and/or operate several roadway and on-track equipment including but not limited to a rotary dump
truck, 10-Ton grapple truck, backhoes, and truck and trailer.
  • Understand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures. Perform any other work
not mentioned above that is required to construct or maintain railroad tracks.
  • Comply with Company & Regulatory Rules and Policies;
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants must be able to work outdoors and at times in remote locations and adverse weather conditions
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in railroad maintenance of way
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Work experience with heavy equipment such as backhoe, excavator would be an asset
  • Must have a valid driver’s license; with CDL B
  • Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills are essential
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• Pass a pre-employment background check and safety certification.
  • Subject to motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature
of this position.
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a A&M Railroad
commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
