Full time counselor needed for 1-59 Pearl River Welcome Center in Pearl River, LA. Customer service experience required, knowledge of Louisiana culture, customs, and tourism assets important but not critical. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Meet and greet the traveling public, welcoming them to Louisiana. Answering the phone and tourist questions about Louisiana tourism attractions, hotels and restaurants. Must be reliable and punctual. Must have basic computer skills.

As part of Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Tourism Information Counselor 1 or Tourism Information Counselor 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in tourism information work, public relations, customer service, or teaching.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To provide information to tourists and to perform incidental clerical and custodial functions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from a Tourism Supervisor or higher level staff.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of Tourism - Welcome Centers statewide.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Tourism Information Counselor 2 by the degree of supervision received and the absence of experienced level duties.
