Oberg Industries is looking for a Tool Maker who is able to craft tools and metal forms for our stamping operations. The ideal Tool Maker candidate should have an interest in working in or learning another discipline of interest such as: Machining, Wirecut/EDM, Grinding (wet/surface) and/or Waterjet. This is a daylight shift position working at our Metal Stamping Center located in Sarver, PA. Come be a part of something bigger and join our Oberg team!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.

  • Set up and operate equipment.
  • Understand the use of measuring tools and calibration requirements.
  • Understanding of CNC operations and modify CNC programs as needed.
  • Must understand use of different cutters and possess ability to determine correct feeds and speeds for those cutters.
  • Must be able to locate, diagnose and correct problems in equipment and systems utilizing test equipment and/or prior work experience.
  • Able to perform basic inspection prior to heat treating.
  • Must be capable of making simple jigs and fixtures.
  • Must be able to make complex set ups.
  • Offer input on how to improve the operations.
  • Coach and train employees on proper manufacturing techniques as required.
  • Cross-training in other areas of discipline such as: machining, grinding, wirecut/EDM and/or waterjet operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings. Understanding of GD&T on prints is preferred.
  • Excellent math skills, knowledge of algebra and trigonometry preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.


PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship program or equivalent experience required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for 10 hours/day and must be able to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with control and unassisted. The employee must be able to raise arms above shoulders and maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to stoop or kneel for excessive periods of time. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
