Summitview is a private, nonprofit organization licensed by the State of California to provide a variety of mental health services to children, adults, and families. Our administrative offices, mental health services, nonpublic school, and residential treatment homes are in Placerville, CA. Placerville is located in the Sierra foothills, off Hwy 50 - which is just a 30–45-minute (reverse!) commute from downtown Sacramento.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB:


Under the direct supervision of the Director of Youth Residential Clinical Programs, the Residential Therapist is responsible for establishing and implementing quality clinical treatment for seriously traumatized youth exhibiting mental health behaviors who have been admitted to our residential treatment programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides and documents all eligible services provided including by not limited to assessment, plan development, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, collateral, rehabilitation, case management and crisis intervention for assigned clients.
  • Completes authorization package, initial assessments, on-going assessments, and discharge paperwork for assigned clients.
  • Assist the Admissions & Records Manager with intakes and assessments as needed.
  • Facilitates internal and external meetings regarding the ongoing treatment of the youth.
  • Attends internal psychiatric appointments with youth and caregivers as scheduled.
  • Evaluate each client's progress and adjust treatment goals and associated clinical services as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with other mental health and residential staff to implement treatment plans.
  • Prepare written quarterly treatment reviews for each client.
  • Document all services provided to youth ensuring at least 26 hours of billable services are achieved each week.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate collateral contacts with community agencies as clinically indicated.
  • Ensure documentation is compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Participates in utilization review, accreditation, county, and state audit requirements.
  • Participates in on-call rotation.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


JOB EXPECTATIONS:


  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of Summitview Child & Family Services, Inc. including, but not limited to, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Follows agency policy for crisis intervention and management skills.
  • Attends scheduled in-service training programs.
  • Attends weekly team meetings as applicable.
  • Demonstrates adherence to policies and procedures involving Privacy Practices (HIPAA compliance)
  • Practices good judgement and takes initiative.
  • Works cooperatively with others in a team-oriented manner.
  • Completes assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Must participate in Performance Quality Improvement and Risk Prevention.
  • Provides and practices trauma-informed care services and modalities with actively using empathy and understanding in treatment of individuals or other tasks assigned.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s License; personal automobile liability insurance; and a driving record acceptable to Summitview’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit; must be willing to complete a health screening including physical examination as required by our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL); and must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner.
  • Must be willing to present a recent negative Tuberculosis test or be willing to take one.
  • Must be able to show full vaccination against COVID-19 inclusive of booster doses when eligible.
  • Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completion of a clinical program with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a field of behavioral science from an accredited university.
  • Experience with seriously emotionally disturbed children or adolescents.
  • Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other Evidence Based Practices preferred.
  • Clinical licensure or an Associate seeking licensure for Clinical Counseling (PCC), (Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Registration with California Board of Behaviroal Science and in good standing.
  • Two years’ previous experience in a clinical position preferred.


OTHER:

  • Employment is at-will.
  • This is a full-time exempt position.
  • Work hours may require flexibility depending on the needs of the client, but the expectation is 40 hrs. per week.
