Our Daily Gnome Creative Arts Center of Chesapeake is a 501c3 nonprofit organization in Chesapeake, VA and is looking for one part-time art therapist to join our team. We are located on 729 S Battlefield Blvd Suite B. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and reliable.

Job Title: Art Therapist for Community Art Therapy

Job Purpose:

The Art Therapist for Community Art Therapy will be responsible for providing art therapy services to individuals and groups within the community. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic art programs that address the emotional, social, and psychological needs of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess clients’ needs and develop individualized art therapy treatment plans
• Conduct art therapy sessions with individuals and groups
• Develop therapeutic art activities that promote self-expression, creativity, and healing
• Provide psycho-education and support to clients and their families
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and progress notes
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related field
• Board certification in Art Therapy (ATR-BC) and/or license as a Professional Counselor or Social Worker
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in art therapy practice, preferably in a community setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective therapeutic art programs

Working Conditions:

The Art Therapist for Community Art Therapy will work in a variety of settings, including community centers, schools, hospitals, and mental health clinics. The work may involve exposure to challenging and emotionally charged situations, and may require evening and weekend work.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
