Summary
The role holder will work on one or more projects, depending on the size of the project and the quantity of testing required, and will be responsible for co-ordinating and executing the required tests to ensure the developed system meets the agreed quality standards.
The test analyst will work closely with the product owner and developer(s) to understand the intended functionality, identify test scenarios and identify the required test data before executing these tests. Test outcomes must be recorded, in particular any defects identified must be communicated to the development team for resolution.
The testing performed will be a mix of manual and automated. In some cases the test analyst will work alongside experienced external contractors and gain experience using specialist tools, particularly around test automation.
Quality assurance is key to the successful delivery of every digital project. Currently, Ofsted has a number of active projects with different test requirements (user interface, data quality etc). The test analyst can expect to work on a variety of these projects, assuring the quality of them all.
