The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a highly motivated, highly organized individual to work in a laboratory team environment with a diverse group of personnel.
Responsibilities
Pick up, wash, sterilize, and redistribute glassware and plastic ware for research laboratories.
Restock supplies from inventory.
Prepare glass and plastic laboratory supplies for use by lab staff.
Sterilize solutions for individual labs and common solutions.
Ensure laboratory space and common areas are maintained in a neat and orderly condition; report to the department any conditions requiring maintenance or custodial service.
Carrying out routine research laboratory assignments as well as maintaining, modifying and analyzing cell lines.
Conduct laboratory tests, analyze and record your data.
Collect and prepare research information needed for studies.
Maintaining and checking accuracy of instruments and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Order laboratory supplies and materials, allocating supplies to various research projects.
Provide general support and technical assistance to other laboratory workers.
Maintain all laboratory records.
Comply with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
Document all activities, results and report back to management.
Perform other lab maintenance and assistant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalency certificate.
Technical training or equivalency and related laboratory experience, usually six months.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Biology, Neuroscience or other appropriate science discipline.
Previous experience working in a research laboratory setting desirable.
