Technical Writer
Koniag Management Solutions, LLC (KMS), a Koniag Government Services company, is looking for a highly qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individual to perform the duties of a Technical Writer to support KMS and our government customer in the DC Metro area. This position requires a Secret Clearance.

The Technical Writer will prepare instruction manuals, how-to guides, journal articles, and other supporting documents to communicate security and cyber security technical information. They also will develop, gather, and disseminate technical information through an organization's communications channels.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all communications on information security and Privacy to the USAID community on behalf of the CISO/CPO;
  • Determine the needs of users of technical security documentation;
  • Study security product samples and communicate with security requirements designers and developers;
  • Work with technical staff to make security and cyber products easier to use;
  • Organize and write supporting content for security;
  • Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase stakeholder's understanding;
  • Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos;
  • Standardize content across platforms and media;
  • Gather user feedback to update and improve content;
  • Revise content as new issues arise;
  • Provide cybersecurity and privacy technical writing support to all IA functional areas.
Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity and privacy awareness and training programs, and Section 508 compliance
  • 2 years of Technical Writing related experience. Substitution Advanced degree equivalent to two (2) years of experience.
  • Experience supporting information technology projects and/or programs, preferably in cybersecurity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize duties based on shifting demands
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
  • College degree in English, Communications, or relevant field
  • Experience with:
    • Developing system, policy, templates for an information technology program
    • US Agency for International Development
    • Cyber Security
Working Environment & Conditions
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
