AURA has an immediate opening for a full-time, Senior Technical Product Manager position (remote).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful Senior Technical Product Manager candidate will act as a conduit between users and our engineering teams. You’ll work with users to understand their needs and desires, and you’ll have the technical skills to work with engineers to deliver those requirements. The output of your work is various commercial products that enterprise users value.


Job duties:

  • As the Product Manager for multiple AURA product portfolios, you are responsible for defining and supporting the building of a desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable product that meets customer needs.
  • Product lines include hardware solutions, hardware/software prototypes, and software solutions delivered by an Agile software development team.
  • As a PM you will explore and develop product ideas, whether interviewing customers, looking at competitors or investigating various technologies. There are many great ideas, but only some can be developed so you will collaborate with UX, engineering and leadership to prioritize the best for product development.
  • The heart of a PM’s job is to translate user requirements into executable work items that the engineering teams can implement into the product. You will have the detailed technical knowledge necessary so you can explain feature requirements to hardware engineers and software developers and work with them to deliver these improvements for users. We often work in collaborative projects, contributing elements and distilling those capabilities into our DoD or commercial product. AURA has a complex set of needs and a wide-ranging ecosystem so you will have a strong analytical mind, that is comfortable discussing technology options and understanding product trade-offs.
  • This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with users, technology and delivering products that users love. You will need to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to work at both a user and technical level and have a strong focus on outcomes.


Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience delivering contracts with the DoD as your primary customer and stakeholder
  • Experience working with contract manufacturing to take initial concepts from hardware prototype design to LRIP
  • Experience with one or more software release delivery models (SaaS, PaaS, or COTS enterprise software)
  • End-to-End software product development and management skills
  • The ability to be adaptable and to work constructively with a technically diverse and geographically separated team is crucial
  • You should have worked with or have a strong interest in Agile software delivery methodology
  • Experience participating in a high performing, highly engaged and motivated team
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Enthusiastic about new technology and its transformational abilities

Working within a demanding team environment, the Senior Technical Product Manager will be responsible for:


Product Development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritization
  • Translate user requirements into executable feature work-items with engineering
  • Be the "voice of the customer" during specification and development stages

Product Success

  • Balancing DoD project requirements and commercial product opportunities
  • Able to communicate business value of product capabilities to sales
  • Act as a product champion externally and internally in support of sales channels
  • Track and report key metrics to drive future product developments

WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum Education


  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience as an Agile Scrum Master and/or Product Owner
  • Preferably experience of open source in DoD and commercial settings

Work Experience:


  • 5+ years product management experience
  • Preferably experience of open source in DoD and commercial settings
  • Enthusiastic about new technology and its transformational abilities
  • Ability to be productive in a nationally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation

Other Requirements:

  • Continuously develop and communicate the vision to the Agile Teams, while defining the features of the products and software systems
  • Collaborating with System Architect/Engineering, define and maintain the Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs) to ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements
  • Responsible for the roadmap, which illustrates how features are intended to be implemented over time
  • Collaborate with System Architect to jointly sequence the Architectural Runway that will host new business functionality
  • Work with leadership as well technical staff to maintain a culture of exceeding customers’ expectations in terms of providing cost effective solutions and unwavering commitment to our customer and technology partners
  • Manage and mentor the Business Analysts on the team
  • Help manage risks and dependencies
  • Managing customer priorities and relationships
  • Effectively negotiating customer requests, identifying workarounds and compromises, and managing scope to stay on schedule with major milestones and deliverables
  • Acting independently to expose and resolve challenges
