What will you do

This role requires the perfect mix of being a brilliant technologist and having a deep appreciation for how technology drives business value. You will have broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping business problems to end-to-end technology solutions. Demonstrated ability to engage senior-level technology decision-makers in application architecture, cloud modernization, and continuous delivery is a must. This is a global role and a key enabler for the company; the foundational data architecture for the new consumer company.

In this role, you will drive the technology choices, data and solution architecture adoption, and optimized solution design to enable critical business outcomes for the new consumer company. You will focus on leveraging your deep technical background in software architecture, software design, software engineering, and the software development process to build a future-ready solution that will support a vast and global user base. Some projects will lean heavily on your ability to consume and understand existing large multi-vendor on-premise and cloud architectures and consolidate them down to a coherent go-forward strategy for the organization.

You must possess the ability to write software for enterprise-strength Data and Analytics solutions and relate concepts to your team and stakeholders alike. You will leverage your practical experience in developing large, complex business solutions and team with highly skilled technologists from other Consumer functions like Commercial, R&D, Finance, and operations from around the world to ensure flawless service delivery. With your strong background in a diverse set of technologies, you will assess which ones are most applicable in solving the real-world business problems of the present and the future.

To be successful, you will exhibit strong leadership qualities necessary for building trust within and outside the immediate team and our technologists. You will partner with solution architects and the Directors on the J&J team to drive success by providing practical guidance, architectures, solutions, and project estimates based on your years of experience in building solutions. Finally, you will mentor associates and consultants along their career paths as they report to you, looking for support and guidance.

Critical Success Factors for the Role:

• Deep technical understanding of modern large-scale Big Data and Analytics solutions integrating tens to hundreds of source systems, harmonizing, curating, and enabling consumption models that drive real business outcomes
• Ability to get hands-on, develop tests and learn proofs-of-value which can be operationalized on short order
• Ability to paint a technology vision and communicate its value across Consumer Health Supply Chain, Commercial, and R&D organizations effectively
• A passion for technology and digital transformation
• Ability to drive strong collaboration and communicate ideas effectively to peers and senior leaders in the organization
• An innovative mind that is creative and doesn’t follow cookie-cutter ideas
• A minimum of 10 years of overall experience, including a minimum of 5 years of enterprise, full-lifecycle development in Big Data or Advanced Analytics space
• Ability to manage direct reports through 1-on-1s, feedback, and mentoring

• Azure PaaS (App Service, API Management, Functions, Logic Apps, Table Storage, Redis Cache, Azure AD, Notification Hubs, IoT and Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning, Service Bus, Queues, Search, Application Insights, CDN)
• AWS PaaS (Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, S3 storage, Elasticache, Lambda, TensorFlow, Comprehend, Rekognition, API-Gateway)
• GCP PaaS (Compute Engine, App Engine, Functions, Storage, Natural Language)
• Various industry-leading platforms such as Boomi, Kafka, and Informatica used in enterprise architectures
• Serverless Architectures and Containers (Docker, Kubernetes), Server development (NodeJS, IIS), storage and search (Cosmos DB, AWS Dynamo DB, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure Search, Elastic Search, Data Warehouse)
• Security concepts such as authentication, authorization, SAML, token management, Azure B2C
• Agile, Continuous Integration/Deployment, DevOps
  

Major Activities:

• Ability to strategically frame and communicate new data and solution architecture and data flows across a functionally diverse organization appropriately
• Work closely with the IT Product Owners and partners to understand the needs of the business; clearly articulating the story of value created through data & technology
• Be a team leader and partner effectively to ensure Digital Core disposition engagement/communication plan
• Develop & implement Interim / Future state technology architecture models
• Deliver end-user analytics using Digital Core Supply Chain, Commercial and R&D solution architecture, and data assets for both to carve-out purposes and future state reporting
• Lead discussions by effectively representing SC Data & Analytics function on the disposition of applications and technologies as a part of the New Consumer Health Company
• Partner with inter-dependent data and analytics functions acting as a liaison between remain-co and new-co
• Ensure processes and controls are in place to guarantee compliance with worldwide procedures and local regulations

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $97,000 to $166,750. The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

What we are looking for

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or commensurate experience
• A minimum of 5 years of first-hand experience developing enterprise solution architectures in a large-scale environment or organization leveraging on-prem and cloud technologies
• Experience in Supply Chain or dealing with a highly functional organization is preferred
• Superb interpersonal & communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
• Ability to partner/challenge the status quo while engaging with peers and senior leaders of the organization (VPs and Sr. Directors)
• Proven capability for problem-solving, decision-making, sound judgment, assertiveness
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills with the ability to conduct presentations comfortably to senior-level leaders
• Ability to challenge/ask the right questions
• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently without a large degree of supervision
• Ability to think creatively and work in a diverse environment
• This position may require travel up to 10% of the time
