Job Summary
Plans and organizes center classroom activities that are aligned with specified early childhood practices to address the needs of children enrolled, ages 3-5, in the Head Start program in accordance with the Head Start performance standards and licensing requirements.
This is a full-time position. In addition to being able to work 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday with some evening/weekend work, candidates must effectively perform identified essential duties & responsibilities, and meet all qualifications noted in the proceeding sections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, prepares and conducts activities to create a nurturing learning environment and provide children with classroom experiences that enrich social, cognitive, physical and emotional development utilizing appropriate early childhood education practices.
Monitors all indoor and outdoor learning environments to ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times.
Establishes and implements procedures for ongoing observations utilizing outcome data related to child performance. Responsible for recording and evaluating children’s growth and development to ensure that appropriate activities are planned and executed to meet individual needs.
Plans, schedules and conducts parent conferences and home visits.
Provides opportunities to actively encourage parents’ participation in the child’s education and development through parent engagement, parents as partners activities, volunteer in-kind hours and parent meetings.
Arranges and monitors classroom to ensure that material and equipment are safe and developmentally appropriate.
Provides guidance to Teacher Assistant, volunteers and other classroom personnel to ensure activities are conducted in accordance the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
Conducts and documents developmental, speech, and behavioral screenings for children.
Updates and assists in the maintenance of child records to ensure reporting and licensing requirements are met.
Completes written observations and anecdotal notes, and enters documentation of child progress, attendance, etc. utilizing agency technology tools.
Actively participates in center-based service coordination through attendance at IEP, MDT, CFR and parent meetings along with designated agency staff.
Attends workshops and training programs to improve skills, increase awareness and enhance knowledge.
May be required to travel to other centers to provide coverage based on agency needs.
Reports all cases of suspected child abuse/neglect to Franklin County Children Services according to agency procedures and the Ohio Revised Code Section 2151.421.
Education and Experience
Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with Early Childhood coursework; or a combination of Early Childhood Education and experience in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. One year of experience teaching preschool children, and knowledge of diverse ethnic groups.
