Job Summary: Responsible for implementing an education program that is developmentally appropriate and congruent with the Center’s philosophy and goals. The teacher is responsible for demonstrating good teaching practices and maintaining the security and safety of the children in the Child Development Center.
Primary Tasks:
Prepares, posts and implements lesson plans and posted daily activities that address all developmental areas.
Guides children through a daily routine; teaches children how to care for materials and equipment; administers appropriate guidance when necessary.
Trains teacher’s aides; delegates assignments and supervises assistant teachers/aides.
Observes and maintain records of each child including daily attendance, meal counts, and any accident or abuse reports.
Maintains learning centers using appropriate group management techniques; creates and frequently alters learning centers to keep them attractive and interesting.
Assures that all practices and activities are in compliance with the OKDHS Licensing Requirements for Centers.
Collects and gathers materials needed for the next day’s class activities.
Make sure classroom is set up and ready for the children’s arrival the next day.
Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the group or on field trips.
Prepare and monitor meal time activities with the group.
Participates in staff meetings and staff development and professional activities with consideration for the licensing guidelines for training.
Monitors appearance of bulletin boards.
Promotes parent involvement in Center conferences, parent meetings, center activities and classroom plans.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School diploma or GED
Exhibits strong interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimum direction and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing
Possess knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications
Able to perform the physical requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
Must have a valid state driver’s license for appropriate vehicle with a clean driving record
Experience working with children
TARGET
Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, effective leadership and time management skills
Exhibits the ability to be flexible and adaptable, able to engage in multiple tasks, able to respond quickly and appropriately to situations
Possess knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications
Obtain a bus driving certificate and CDL within first 90 days of employment
Able to perform the physical requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
Experience in or minimal formal education in child development or early childhood education
