Job description

Education / Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be of good character
• Must meet the minimum standards determined by VDOE

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Meet the emotional, social, physical & cognitive needs of each child
• Plan and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development
• Observe & evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
• Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
• Complete bi-annual assessment of children’s development
• Meet with parents (guardians) to discuss their children’s progress & needs bi-annually
• Maintain daily open communication with parents
• Complete accident / injury reports as necessary
• Maintain confidentiality
• Report any suspected abuse to supervisor
• Arrange indoor/outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
• Attend staff meetings
• Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants
• Keep all appropriate records such as classroom sheets and attendance
• Meet all applicable licensing regulations

Continuing Education / Training Requirements:

• Complete minimum of 16 hours of annual training
• Maintain current CPR and First Aid

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
