Summary: The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all Federal and State tax matters including tax returns, payments, monthly provision estimates and tax-related SEC disclosures. The Tax Manager will also oversee certain tax and non-tax related ad hoc projects.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Oversees preparation of monthly tax provision estimate.
  • Liaises with external tax compliance firm to complete annual and quarterly tax filings and documentation of tax positions.
  • Oversees preparation of documentation on uncertain tax positions.
  • Responsible for review of deferred tax assets and liabilities.
  • Responsible for reviewing tax payments and payable proof schedule.
  • Take ownership for the updating of all data utilized in the provision, such as fixed assets, limited partnerships, share-based compensation, etc.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries related to tax matters from internal and external audit.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal business areas to understand accounting transactions and processes.
  • Oversee processing of all tax payments and refunds.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual disclosures related to tax matters.
  • Supports accounting department enhancement efforts to ensure and/or improve data integrity, accuracy, and process efficiency department and entity wide.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal business areas to understand accounting transactions and processes.
  • Ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by Senior Management.
  • Assumes responsibility for timely completion of special projects as assigned by CAO and Controller.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting or Finance from accredited four-year college or university required; Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is required.
  • Prior public accounting experience in taxation is strongly desired. Proven and progressive accounting and/or related financial institutions and services experience desired.
  • Personnel and project management experience desired.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Ability to use basic office machines. Ability to learn bank-specific software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
