Position Summary:

This Tax Accountant position is primarily responsible for the timely compliance of various tax returns under general supervision. The position also assists the Tax Manager with special assignments and projects within the tax team in the Finance Department.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Liaise with third party tax accountants and coordinate tax filings
• Review sales & use tax returns prepared by third party tax software
• Review income/franchise tax returns prepared by third party tax accountants
• Review and validate resale/exemption certificates
• Assist with information gathering in support of internal and external tax audits
• Respond to and prepare correspondences with federal and state tax authorities
• Prepare and file monthly Canadian GST/HST tax returns
• Prepare annual property tax statements, business licenses, and statements of information
• Assist with other tax projects as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Education

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years’ experience in Tax Accounting

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• A combination of public accounting and private industry experiences
• Experience working with Avalara AvaTax and CertCapture
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both internally and externally
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Excel

The salary range for the role is $73,233-$109,850.
