The Systems and Optimization team manages transportation and transactional system interfaces, ensures data integrity, creates data analytics, and supports optimization modeling for the Business Optimization & Improvement organization in the Commercial business unit. The team strives to improve the quality of data in our business systems, deliver trusted data analytics efficiently, and identify truck and rail value chain optimization opportunities.

The Systems and Optimization Analyst is responsible for monitoring and resolving daily EDI issues, enhancing transactional data for truck and rail logistics needs, developing data analytic dashboards for enhanced data visibility and transactional data monitoring, ensuring the data integrity of transportation logistics data and processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for working in a team environment. This position provides exposure to the overall system process improvement within the Commercial Organization and value chain while allowing individuals that demonstrate aptitude and initiative, increased opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities may include:
Monitor the SAP R/3 SCD (Shipment Cost Documents) and SAP S/4 VBD (Vendor Billing Documents), and vended solutions (error logs) in support of Bulk Truck and Rail Logistics

Support Business Unit requests related to the overall freight accrual process

Streamline the process of maintaining freight rates to support the freight rate processing

Monitor daily Rail BOL transmissions and facilitate Rail EDI BOL error resolution, including Truck EDI 210 file (i.e. invoices that flow into CarrierPoint)

Identify areas of improvement for error monitoring (i.e. EDI, system error logs) in support of Bulk Truck and Rail Logistics

Enhance the freight rates processes in support of truck and rail logistics

Ensure the data integrity for the systems in scope of truck and rail logistics

Extracting data from VIM, CarrierPoint, etc. to ensure data integrity in Truck and Rail Systems

Develop and propose new analytics, tools and reports using Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI to enhance data visibility and facilitate improved decision making and freight payment processing

Interface/collaborate with key business stakeholders to develop reports and KPIs to provide transparent and timely access to logistics data

Create & monitor KPIs to better measure performance and drive continuous improvement

Work cross-functionally and be accountable for delivering results within time commitments

Provide continuous communications of project progress to customers and stakeholders

Provide guidance to the Business Optimization & Improvement organization for continuous analytical reporting and error monitoring

Participate in special projects or provide backups as needed

Basic/Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

Associates degree or higher

Working knowledge of SAP

High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint)

Knowledge of supply chain and/or transaction processing

2 or more years of experience in Commercial, Procurement, Transportation or Logistics support function

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree

1 or more years of experience using SAP SD module, SAP S/4 HANA

2 or more years of direct experience working in the oil and gas logistics or transportation industry

Proficient in the use of ERP search routines, electronic requisitioning, and electronic interfaces with vendors

Attention to detail with good organizational skills

Able to adapt and learn quickly

Business aptitude to understand Commercial operations

Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI, and/or Tableau

Experience in multi modal supply chain transactions

Ability to adapt to a wide range of computer software applications

Ability to manage responsibilities on multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to interact effectively with many stakeholders across one or multiple functional areas

Excellent oral and written communication skills, ensuring common understanding

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to support business focused analysis and decisions

Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and sense of urgency to get the job done, with the potential and desire to advance to a higher level of responsibility and to learn the underlying commercial business

Self-starter with the ability to recommend changes to improve processes resulting in greater efficiency in the position and the organization

Operate effectively in a dynamic work environment

The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
