MCS is hiring for a Systems Administrator with Microsoft Windows Server experience at LA AFB, CA. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.

The Systems Administrator must demonstrate the ability to resolve problems, support users, and maintain operations in a Microsoft Windows Server environment including servers, desktop infrastructures, or other computer systems. Must be able to assist with the receiving, racking, cabling, and installing Windows OS on new systems to be built and put into service.


Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves server issues, networks, remote access, email, and desktop solutions.
  • Follows checklists for configuring and maintaining firewalls, internet connections, VPN, and remote access.
  • Creates new users, resets user passwords, and locks/unlocks user accounts. Contributes to desktop support.
  • Monitors server security and sets up security policies for users based on work instructions and documented guidance.
  • Updates system as soon as a new version of OS and application software are approved and directed for implementation.
  • Assists with the administration, design, and implementation of systems and applications.
  • Assists with performance tuning and monitors the performance of server systems, including uptime, failover, anti-viral, and anti-spamming.
  • Monitors and manages accounts and maintains fault tolerances within identified specifications determined by senior administrators.
  • Maintains best practices and policies for backups and recovery of whole Windows OS infrastructure.
  • Plans for and responds to service outages and other workstation or server problems, diagnosing and correcting the problems.
  • Arranges repair for hardware during hardware failure.


Qualifications
:

  • 3+ years’ experience with various System Administrative tasks in a Windows Environment and other applicable platforms
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little direction/supervision
  • Experience supporting systems and servers in a mix of physical and virtual environments
  • Experience with Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMWare, Remedy, and common AF Enterprise and DoD software
  • Familiar with security standards for DISA STIGs

This position is expected to pay $60,000 - $85,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Fundamental Functions

Work Environment

  • Work assignments may vary based on client requirements.
  • Work may be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
  • Work may be performed in the field. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy or windy climates.

Schedule

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory.
  • It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.
  • Position may require night and weekend work and could include travel with the military to participate in operations/exercises located in areas with varying field conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • May require climbing, working at heights and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets and server racks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions. Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC/laptop. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 30 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

  • General office equipment includes but is not limited to: PC/laptop, telephone, copier, servers, switches, routers and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
  • General field equipment includes but is not limited to: hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial/motorized lifts and test equipment.
  • May require operating motor vehicles.

Travel

  • Travel requirements will vary. Not all positions require travel.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required to operate company vehicles.
  • Continental and Overseas travel may be required. A current passport is required for Overseas travel.

Other Essential Functions

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses through the duration of the project or contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.
  • Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a time sensitive environment.

  • Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • For office environments, grooming and dress is typically business casual but is dependent on client’s standards.
  • For field environments, grooming and dress must not pose a safety hazard to yourself or employees working in the same general area.
