Job Description

HII Mission Technologies Division has an immediate need to hire a Systems Administrator in support of the Air Combat Command (ACC) Directorate of Communications (A6) Unified Communications Support Contract at Langley AFB, VA.

The candidate shall provide enterprise systems maintenance and repair, maintain servers, software systems, and networks.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise systems maintenance and repair, maintain servers, software systems, and networks.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, diagnose, validate, and resolve hardware, software, firmware, and network problems for system administrators.
  • Configure, maintain and upgrade network connection devices, network hardware/software equipment, and automation equipment, to include: running utility software, isolating client, server, or peripheral configuration problems, cleaning file systems of extraneous temporary and log files, and maintaining the approved system baseline.
  • Support the acquisition, planning, integration, implementation, accreditation, and analysis of critical structures, processes, policies, tools, and products to ensure that they provide the appropriate technologies and functionalities of a specified system.
  • Coordinate installation, network implementation, and operation of systems with the host unit, planners, and external system program offices.
  • Assist Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) in providing systems security management, technical analysis, and documentation support.
  • Administer user accounts, file permissions, and print queues, load and configure software packages, updates, and patches and perform system backups.
  • Provide technical support to include troubleshooting user operating problems, application problems, system configuration issues and malfunctions, and network operating problems, management information base (MIB), Object Identifier (OID), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and Storage Area Networks (SAN) to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Develop and enhance SolarWinds application LAN/WAN and server monitoring, reporting and alerting processes across the MAJCOM to improve device health, status, reporting, and patching.
  • Identify communication service requirements, system architectures and designs; perform analysis, design and create integration/ implementation plans with required documentation.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations regarding emerging network related technologies.
  • Provide weekly updates of activity and status as requested; attend meetings to provide leadership situational awareness and recommendations through briefings.
  • Provide support, inputs, and documentation for effective project management of network related programs and projects.

Minimum Qualifications

IA Technical Level II Certification REQUIRED - (must have- CCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP certification) IAW DoDD 8570 and DoDD 8570.01-M.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, plus 3 years’ experience in information management or related discipline, or;
  • Associates Degree in computer science, plus 5 years’ experience in information management or related discipline.
Two (2) years’ experience in administrating, configuring, installing and technical expertise in managing and operating SolarWinds.
One (1) year experience in telecommunications and network administration in a large distributed environment with emphasis on military operations.
One (1) year experience in life-cycle management of LAN/ Wide Area Network (WAN), test and evaluation, data performance and collection, quality assurance metrics and Microsoft Office applications.
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional (CCNA/CCNP) or UNIX systems, network control center operations, requirement analysis, and computer-aided drawing, preferably Visio.
Two (2) years’ experience demonstrating network planning and integration knowledge.
Two (2) years’ experience with numbered air force (NAF) or higher staff organizations and base- level network architecture, as well as technical experience working issues with AFSPC NetOps organizations.
One (1) year experience in the installation, implementation, backups, administration and management of all aspects of SolarWinds.
Experience using Microsoft-suite of applications tools, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.

Preferred Requirements

Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance desirable but minimum Secret clearance required.

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
