The Role:
We are excited to bring eager, talented students on board and provide them with an unparalleled co-op experience. The Entegris Co-op Program consists of real work experience, cross-functional learning and development opportunities, and a variety of social and volunteering events.
Developing a circular economy on plastic products is a key component of our sustainability innovation program. This co-op position will help establish standard operating procedures to all filter take-back to be a value-add offering to our customers.
In this role you will:
The co-op will develop methodologies to help us accelerate our Filter Take-back Project as part of our Plastics Footprint Reduction. The concept of this program is to develop a circular economy around our single use plastic filters, thereby lessening the environmental footprint of our products by limiting the landfill contribution. To do so, we need to develop protocols for receiving spent filters from our customers, cleaning and/or refurbishing them, and then redeploying to secondary markets. The specific role of the intern will be to evaluate best methods for analysis and refurbishment and helping to document a best known method for one or more types of filters.
Expected Outcomes:
The expected outcome of this project is a documented procedure for returning spent filters from our customers, that can then be modified and personalized to other types of filters (or other products) to accommodate for the specific applications that they service. Success will be a robust process that can be replicated by others and extended to a wide range of products. The Plastics Footprint Reduction is a critical aspect of Entegris's Sustainability Program.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
The ideal co-op should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral as well as good organizational skills. The ability to trouble shoot and solve problems is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and with teams. A basic knowledge of chemistry is essential. Some experience with analytical chemistry and/or polymer science is highly desirable.
Your success will be measured by:
Good interpersonal and collaborative skills are essential. Personal respect for co-workers is mandatory. The selected individual will have specific roles and responsibilities for which they will be held accountable, but will have access to support from a wide range of colleagues and managers. Creative and strive for excellence is what will ultimately make this project and this co-op assignment successful.
Desired Majors: Environmental science, chemistry, chemical or mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology, physics or related field. Desired Graduation Date: 2024-5
