POSITION DESCRIPTION: Informatics Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: IT Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the IT Manager, this position serves as the desktop support staff to help, deploy, maintain and trouble shoot core business applications and to provide basic desktop support for Southern Missouri Community Health Center. They will provide evaluation and support of the day-to-day IT activities. This position supports the Southern Missouri Community Health Center team and clients. They will provide training and guidance to the internal staff and clients and keep them updated with new technologies as needed..

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of one year working in software systems, medical software preferred.

Previous experience working on help desk tickets or desktop support preferred.

Experience in medical environment preferred.

Willingness to attend medical terminology class if no medical background.

High School graduate or equivalent required.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to assess business and workflow needs and translate them into relevant solutions.

Willingness to learn data mapping, data flow and new software systems.

Understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices associated with database maintenance and administration.

Understanding of and adherence to all data, physical security, and confidentiality policies and procedures.

Exceptional customer service skills to support a medical environment with priority given to issues that impact patient care.

Requires occasional evening and weekend hours to assist with off-hour IT tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide day-to-day IT Software system support and basic end user desktop support functions for an environment of approximately 75 users, serving as liaison with contracted IT company, IT Manager and team members and vender software support companies.

Answer high volume of inbound troubleshooting calls and manage tickets along with IT team members through internal ticket system.

Assist team members with resolving IT issues.

Assists SMCHC staff with workflow troubleshooting, software systems utilization and software administrator duties as assigned.

Assists SMCH staff with exceptional and timely customer service with their personal phones, laptops, tablets, etc.

Is primary contact to assist with the basic end user support, i.e., system reboot, UPS deployment, phone issues, basic printer, and scanner issues, identify new/replacement equipment needs, loading and preparing and deploying new computers, etc.

Answers inquiries and clarifies desired information; researching, locating, and providing accurate information, including education to team members with solutions.

Utilize de-escalation skills and escalate cases when necessary to IT Manager and/or IT support provider.

Enhance organization and IT department reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to the position.

Assist in developing systems, and workflow processes, or procedures to deliver quality service to end users.

Support IT Manager with software applications by learning systems as a Super User and how to troubleshoot within them.

Assists with new software deployment and set up as requested.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Help with creation and upkeep of training materials, support documentation and end user training.

Other duties as assigned.
